Ben Harris I saw these guys supporting at the Cable Ties launch last night - they were sensational. Always try and catch the support bands ...

Chadarack Listened to this because they have a song called "this heat"..They are notably more tuneful and less experimental than This Heat ever were, but the sentiment is in there. Their sound leans more to the NYC no wave scene, resembling something between Sonic Youth and DNA. Every song here is anchored by a heavily driving bass roll, while the jangle and squall of the guitars do the rest. Awesome record front to back. Favorite track: Full Swing.

No Sister got started in 2013 in Brisbane by Mino and Tiarney, who later moved to Melbourne and teamed up with Murray Coggan (drums) and Gemma Helms (bass).

They released their debut self-titled LP in August 2016, which was also self-produced and self-released. In April 2017 they teamed up with Bitumen to release a split cassette on Vacant Valley. Their second record was released in November 2017, and their EP 'Influence' released in August 2017.

Reviews of our debut self-titled album:

"Throughout the record, you often get the impression that the guitars are trying to converse with the lead vocal, particularly on serious highlight Portrait In A Rearview Mirror. The guitars sort of slide up and down and up again, trying to fit themselves into the conversation as gently as possible until they just give up and start going in another direction entirely. Each song on the album works like this – they’re populated by disparate rhythmic and melodic elements that all work in their own individual way, but all seem to indirectly come together to create an intricate, complicated machine."
- Joe Saxby, 4ZZZ

"Their self-titled debut is nothing short of mind-bendingly brilliant. The thing about the band that has been difficult to describe to others is that there is no half-hearted aping or hacksmithery here - they are earnest about their influences, astute in their constructions and desultory in their deconstructions."
- Brendan Telford, Sonic Masala

"Great band. Worth catching!"
- David Chesworth (Australian composer, Essendon Airport, Whadya Want?)

"Late last year I somehow missed the Melbourne via Brisbane band No Sister‘s live-wire self-titled LP release. The eight track album is twisted, post-punk in the shape of Total Control, Preoccupations or Protomartyr. Had we not missed the release, the closing track ‘Passing The Divide‘ would’ve made our Top 100 end of year list."
- Marcus Rimondini, Ripe Music

"Driving back from picking up some fish & chips, usually sneak a few chips on the drive back but was so into this album on the car stereo I forgot to pinch some chips... glowing review"
